LIfe Without Ken

One of the questions that frequently gets asked is "Just how long can Conservapedia survive?" The simple answer to that is as long as Andrew Schlafly has some of his mother's money to spend and some bile to spew on the world. And given that Andy hates everything from professors to Hollywood, via abortion, the "liberal" Bible and President Obama, that's a lot of bile.

So, a more relevant question could be "Just how viable is Conservapedia as n ongoing project?" Remember, this is supposed to be the site that will prove to be bigger than, and the eventual downfall of, Wikipedia. Bearing this in mind, one would expect CP to be a hive of activity and at first glance, that would appear to be the case.

Until you realise that most of the edits of those of administrator Ken Demyer, deleting, recreating and protecting his various pages, or writing about flying kitties and how much Asian ladies don't like Richard Dawkins. Now, over at RationalWiki, user:Sid has cobbled together a useful little Greasemonkey script, which removes all of Ken's inane edits from the recent changes list.

What's shown below, is the first 50 entries on the Recent changes list, minus Ken Demyer's contributions. Now the first may be a little misleading - if not very revealing - as it might have taken place during CP's usual "closed for editing" time and Ken is usually a busy little beaver around then.

The second is taken 24 hours later, after CP has been open to editing for the day. 13 entries - 3 by Andy Schlafly, 5 by TK, 2 new user creations (any bets on how long they last?) and three by user JasoT. Yup, that's the kind of editing numbers that will be required to overtake Wikipedia. Maybe Andy's holding out for the Rapture, so he won't have to admit what a failure his little hate-speech blog has become.

After all, I wouldn't trust Ken Demyer (yes, Karajou, he is also KDBuffalo) with my grocery shopping, nevermind being the single largest contributor of *ahem* encyclopaedic content.

Oh, remember those two new editors I mentioned above? They've been removed, with one more for good luck. The site is growing rapidly!!
